Srinagar, July 29: The aspirants for the state civil service examinations (KAS) on Thursday appealed to the Public Service Commission to extend the date for submission of forms for preliminary examinations.
Greater Kashmir received scores of phone calls from the candidates urging the PSC to extend the date in view of the prevailing situation in the Valley. Today was the last date for submission of the examination forms for KAS prelims examination. “We are not allowed to move out of houses. There is no traffic movement. How could we reach Srinagar to submit the forms,” said an aspirant Mushtaq Ahmad from Islamabad. His concern was shared by another aspiring candidate from Budgam district.
Meanwhile, the candidates scheduled to appear in the B.Ed examination on August 3 have appealed the Kashmir University authorities to defer the examination in view of the prevailing situation. Many candidates, especially girls, called on the GK office and said their examination centres were at far off places and it was difficult for them to reach their during the prevailing situation. “There have been instances wherein the paramilitary troopers have torn off the roll number slips of the candidates at Shahr-e-Khas thrashing them severely. Such instances have made the students apprehensive in appearing in the examinations,” a girl student said. They urged the concerned authorities to reschedule the examination for the benefit of students’ community.
