Srinagar, July 30: Several separatist organizations have strongly condemned the firing, tear canister shelling and lathicharge on ‘peaceful’ protestors by the police and the CRPF troopers on Friday at different places in Valley, killing at least three and injuring hundreds of others, many of them grievously.
Condemning the firing at Channapora, here and Amar Garh and Pattan in Varmul district and use of indiscriminate force at other places, the Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has termed it a part of ‘genocide being carried out by the armed forces’ to suppress the ongoing peaceful freedom struggle.
Welcoming the statement of UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon about the Kashmir situation and permanent resolution of K-issue, Mirwaiz appealed to him to take cognizance of ‘indiscriminate innocent killings and other rights violations being perpetrated by the armed forces in Kashmir.’ He also appealed him to depute his envoy to Kashmir to take stock of worsening situation.
Mirwaiz expressed solidarity with the families of martyred civilians and prayed for the speedy recovery of injured.
Condemning the incidents, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front vice-chairman, advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat termed it the worst example of ‘state terrorism’.
In a statement, Bhat alleged that these incidents “amply proved that India was treating Jammu Kashmir as its colony.” “International community should not act as a mute spectator to the killings by the armed forces, but should pressurize India to stop civilian killings and take steps for the resolution of Kashmir issue,” he said, reiterating that the people would continue their struggle till its logical end.
Bhat also appealed to the Ban Ki Moon, international leaders and other nations to extend their moral and political help to Kashmiris to determine their future and use their influence on India and Pakistan to step up their endeavours to resolve Kashmir in accordance with their (Kashmiris’) wishes and aspirations.
Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) has concern over the killings and other methods of repression used by the police and armed forces in Kashmir, terming it the part of conspiracy to continue Kashmiris’ genocide. It sympathized with the families of martyred and prayed for the speedy recovery of injured.
Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement, while condemning the incidents, termed them ‘barbaric’ acts to quell the peaceful freedom struggle.
Condemning the killings, Jammu Kashmir National Front has termed it the worst kind of state terrorism aimed at quelling the ongoing peaceful freedom struggle. It has sympathized with the families of martyrs and prayed for the speedy recovery of injured.
Democratic Political Movement spokesman appealed to the UN Secretary General and the international human rights organizations especially Amnesty International and Asia Watch to take serious note of these killings and other rights abuses by the armed forces and exert pressure on India to stop these violations forthwith.
Peoples Political Party chairman, Hilal Ahmad War has condemned the brutal killings, saying “It appears that the present government is trying to create a war like situation in the state.” He sympathized with the families of martyred civilians.
Condemning the killings and indiscriminate forces, Jama’at-e-Islami has appealed to Ban Ki Moon to pressurize Indian to put an immediate halt to the rights violations in J&K and implement UN resolutions by giving the Kashmiris their Right of Self Determination.
