Limited jurisdiction
This refers to “limited jurisdiction” of National Human Rights Commission over Jammu and Kashmir. On one hand S.M.Krishna in Pakistan recently pointed out that in India we have a commission to look into the human rights violations and people of Jammu and Kashmir should approach it, if they have any grievances. But on the other, the NHRC chairman, K.G.Balakrishnan said that they do not have
jurisdiction in all subjects in Jammu and Kashmir. How can such Commissions rescue people if their hands are bound? I wonder why this indifference is with J&K.
