PDP, CPI (M) denounce killings

Srinagar, July 30: Peoples Democratic Party has condemned the killing of innocent youth by armed forces in Sopur and injuring of others in Srinagar.
In a statement, its general secretary, Muhammad Dilawar Mir said, “This government seems to have become a man eater.”
Concerned over continued disruptions in life, rein of repression and loss of life in valley, Dilawar said the government “seems to have reached a dead end in tackling the situation.”
He said the serious injuries caused to many youth today were a result of unprovoked use of force by armed forces.
Referring to the attempts to create wedge between communities, Mir condemned the incident involving a Sikh youth in South Kashmir saying attempts were made to distract attention of the people from the real issues.
Condemning the ban on a local TV channel SEN, Mir demanded immediate lifting of curbs on it. “The government was using all methods including physical violence to browbeat press and had now used the most brazen colonial methods to silence the media.”
Meanwhile, commenting on today’s incidents, state secretary CPI (M), Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami said, “This unending blood letting course is bound to generate further anger and disillusionment among our people.”
