Families await appointment with detained members

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, July 3: The residents of south City areas like Bagh-e-Mehtab, Mochow and Old Barzulla are up in arms against the police for detaining “innocent civilians” and not allowing their in-time meeting with the families at Police Station Sadder.
A delegation of the affected families said the police was dilly-dallying their appointment with the detained youth.
“On one hand, the police has arrested innocent youths and instead of releasing them it isn’t allowing us to meet them,” complained some families.
“We have been waiting here since morning only to get a glimpse of our beloved, but they are yet to allow us meet him,” said a family waiting outside the police station at Barzulla on the hot summer day Saturday.
The residents of Old Barzulla said police had run a reign of terror in the area and arrested three innocent people from there on Friday afternoon.
“Policemen came looking for some youth but on not finding them they picked up others,” the residents said.
They also accused the police of resorting to stone pelting to smash windowpanes of residential houses.
The residents of Bagh-e-Mehtab said four youth of the area have been detained.
When contacted an official at the Police Station refuted the allegations adding that those having been detained were released.
But the complainants contested the police claims till late in the evening when the report was being filed.
