SKIMS hosts seminar on imaging
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, July 3: “Radiology is central to the practice of medicine. No healthcare facility can be imagined to accomplish its goal without radiology,” experts said Saturday at SK Institute of Medical Sciences during a seminar on Role of Imaging in Non-Traumatic Emergencies.
An official handout said: “The department of Radio Diagnosis had organized the event attended by Institute faculty and Resident staff.”
The seminar was chaired by Prof MA Wani, Chairman, Neuro Sciences and Prof Showkat Zargar, HOD, Gastroenterology.
“The whole gamut of emergency radiology especially related to emergency angiography and emergency CT Scans in Abdomen and Chest were discussed threadbare,” the handout added.
SKIMS Director, Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar “appreciated work of the department and commended HOD Radiology Prof Tariq AGojwari and his staff for making emergency radiology available 24 hours, especially during present crisis.”
The Director assured the department would soon be provided with “Digital Sub-Traction Angiography for conducting vascular interventions.”
He also “promised to upgrade the present mini PACS system to full-fledged PACS system.”
“Introduction of CT in ‘70s revolutionized the medicine more than any other invention. Multi-detector CT has broadened the scope of CT further,” said a spokesman.
Pertinently, he said, the department of Radio-Diagnosis was the first government run institution in India to be equipped with 64 Slice CT for emergency imaging and conducting specialized emergency procedures like emergency angiography of Brain, Chest and whole body.”
