Cultural workshop for tribal children ends

Jammu, July 4: Production Oriented Children Theatre Workshop organized by Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation concluded, here today.
The workshop, aimed to develop creativity among the nomadic Gujjar children up to the age of 15–concluded with presentation of a Gojri play “Ustaad” at Gujjar Basti, Bajalta, a spokesman of the Foundation said.
He said 23 children participated in the play, which was directed by Mushtaq Kak, a reputed theatre director. Foundation secretary, Dr Javaid Rahi, said the organisation had been regularly organizing such events every year in the state to promote and develop creativity among the nomadic children. This workshop was a part our efforts towards educational and skill development of tribal and marginalized children, he added.
Dr Rahi said Tribal Foundation with the help of North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala was planning to hold a series of theatre workshops in tribal localities of Jammu and Kashmir in a professional manner. The main objectives of these workshops would be to give boost to basic education and to develop a sense of confidence among nomadic kids.
Mushtaq Kak, director of the workshop, said the workshop was his first encounter with nomadic children, but he was happy to note that these children were capable and were full of energy, which could be channelized for the development of the community. The play “Ustaad” was written by eminent play write, Babu Noor Muhammad Noor and was about contribution of a teacher who rendered all his life for spread of education among Tribals.
Those who participated in the play includes Muhammad Rafeeq Thedwa, Bashir Ahmed Poswal, Ali Muhammad Boken, Diawal Hussain Khatana, Dilmer, Hasham, Khadam,Dilsheer, Adam Ali and others.
