Accused cops to face action
POLICE, ADMN RESHUFFLE ON CARDS
KHALID GUL
Islamabad, July 4: The Jammu and Kashmir government is likely to initiate action against the policemen allegedly involved in the cold-blooded murder of three teenagers here last week.
Sources said the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was likely to order police reshuffle in the district following which action against the policemen would be initiated.
The development came after the senior National Conference leader and Member Parliament, Dr Mehboob Beg, and some cabinet ministers met Omar on Sunday.
Sources said Dr Beg apprised the Chief Minister about the peoples’ demand to punish the accused police and administration officials who are believed to have been present on the spot when the killings took place
“The three teenagers were killed in cold-blood inside a residential house at Anchidora. Government needs to punish the accused
irrespective of rank or status to restore sense of security among the people. People have rejected the magisterial inquiry being conducted by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue as he is subordinate to the police and administration officials,” Dr Beg, according to sources, told Omar.
HCBA rejects magisterial inquiry
The High Court Bar Association (HCBA) Sunday rejected the Magisterial Inquiry ordered by the government into the killing of three youth in SK Colony Islamabad last week. Led by Bar president Mian Abdul Qayoom the Bar delegation visited the families of three youth and expressed solidarity with the bereaved. They assured the families of legal assistance. They said the magisterial inquiry has been entrusted to an officer who is subordinate to the accused involved in the “cold blooded murder.”
The District Bar Association President Advocate Fayaz Ahmad Sodagar said that District Bar would conduct independent inquiry into the incident and will present report to the people within days.
HCBA General Secretary G.N Shaheen said that the Bar would come up with a report on these killings on Monday.
