Lightning kills 2 girls, injures 2

Srinagar, July 4: Two girls were killed and an equal number injured when lightning struck Bandi-Boniyar area in the border town of Uri on Sunday, police said.
 According to a local news agency KNS the incident happened when these girls were grazing cattle at Parthrabanali Behak. The deceased have been identified as class 9th student Tazeeba Bano daughter of Syed Anwar and Rukhsana Bano daughter of Abdul Majeed Khan of Boniyar. Zahida daughter of Ghulam Rasool and Parveena daughter of Ghulam Hassan Khan both belonging to Bonihlai Boniyar who were critically injured in the incident were admitted in a local hospital, it said.
 The news agency said 40 livestock also perished in the incident.
 Confirming the deaths, the DSP Uri Masroor Ahmad Mir said, the incident happened at 11: 30 am when weather turned inclement causing high velocity winds and torrential rain in the area. He said the duo was killed in the lightning adding the police teams were rushed to the spot, who retrieved the bodies of the deceased and hospitalised the critically wounded
