PRE-MONSOON RAINS LASH JAMMU
Slight dip in temperature
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, July 4: The pre-monsoon rains, which lashed Jammu on Sunday, brought respite to people who were reeling under intense heat wave for days.
Officials of the Met department said the rain was an indication of the ensuing monsoon.
Though the day started with intense heat coupled with rise in humidity level, the pre-monsoon showers lashed Jammu and its outskirts in the afternoon.
The meteorological department declared Sunday rain as pre-monsoon showers while claiming that the condition was favourable for the onset of monsoon in next three days.
“The conditions are favourable for arrival of the monsoon in next three days,” official sources said, adding that the temperature also witnessed a dip of three degree Celsius.
The department has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at few places in Jammu divisions in a day.
The temperature on Saturday was recorded 39.5 degree Celsius (Maximum), while the highest temperature on Sunday was recorded at 36.6 degree Celsius. However, the level of humidity has increased from 32 deg C yesterday to 53 today.
The pre-monsoon rains exposed the lack of preparedness of the civic authorities to tackle the blocked drains and streets filled with slushy water.
