Probe into official- contractor nexus in R&B: JKNPP
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, July 4: The National Panthers Party has demanded probe into alleged official- contractor nexus in R&B department In a statement, NPP MLA Harsh Dev Singh called for a probe into the alleged nexus and the practice of repeated delays in completion of R&B schemes in violation of the agreements stipulating time bound completion for all projects. He expressed concern over the ‘extremely slow pace’ of various R&B and PMGSY schemes in the state and the alleged utter failure of the public works department in ensuring time bound execution of various centrally sponsored schemes and other state level schemes pertaining to roads and bridges.
He said the government was interested more in making tall announcements in media while in actual practice there was a wide gap between these claims and the ground situation. He said majority of the schemes had remained confined to papers only with no tangible output having been recorded on the ground. Harsh Dev Singh flayed the government for its poor performance and extremely slow pace in implementation of PMGSY, NABARD and ADB sponsored projects in the state. He regretted that the J&K State had recently been declared as the tail-ender in the country in implementation of PMGSY schemes. He said that pace of execution of roads under PMGSY was extremely slow with several roads projects lingering for years together despite the GOI guidelines stipulating 9 months to one year period for their construction and completion. He said connectivity to even the habitations with a population of one thousand plus souls was being denied, which were classified under priority list of ‘core-net work’. He regretted the non payment wages by executing agencies to the labourers on the plea of non releases of funds by government of India.
