Sanitation drive for Me’raj celebrations

Srinagar, July 4:   The Srinagar Municipal Corporation has started a special sanitation drive for nearing Me’raj-e-Aalam celebrations at some of the shrines, particularly the Hazratbal Shrine, Jinab Sahib Soura, and the Kalashpora shrine, the officials Sunday said.
 The SMC Health Officer, Dr Reyaz Ahmed said “despite prevailing conditions a contingency of 150 Safai Karam Charies has been put to work.”
 He said the corporation would ensure clean surroundings around Masjids and shrines during the Me’raj celebrations particularly in the Hazratbal area.
 Pertinently, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Naseema Lanker on Friday directed the civic body to ensure complete sanitation in the City as also in and around the Hazratbal area.
 She also said the SRTC would operate buses from Railway Station, Nowgam to Hazratbal directly for the pilgrims coming from various parts of North and South Kashmir.
