Step down: NSF to VC JU

GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, July 4: National Secular Forum on Sunday asked Prof. Varun Sahni to step down from the post of vice-chancellor of the Jammu University for his alleged failure to run the administration of the varsity.  The demand was raised by NSF president, Vikas Sharma while welcoming new members in the forum.  Speaking on the occasion, Vikas Sharma and Rakesh Chib president, Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association, alleged the Vice-Chancellor had allegedly failed to bring much needed reforms in the varsity. “Instead of working as a paper tiger, it is better for him (V-C) to step down from the post,” demanded Sharma.
Kashmir University, he said, was making admissions through entrance test system since last two years in different courses of higher education level.
“I fail to understand, as to what stopped the Jammu university authorities from adopting entrance test system for admission to various post graduate courses,” he said, while claiming that it would bring transparency in the entire admission process.
The NSF leader urged Governor NN Vohra to intervene and fix the responsibility for the failure of the authorities in introducing the entrance test system for admissions.
Earlier, Surjit Chowdhary was nominated as chairman of Jammu and Samba districts and his appointment was made by the forum president Vikas Sharma.
