Srinagar, July 4: Vice-President of India Hamid Ansari Sunday arrived at Leh for a three-day tour to Ladakh.
Ansari was accompanied by his wife Salma Ansari and a team of high level officers from the union government.
The Vice-President was received at Bakula Airport Leh by the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand. Tourism Minister, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Chering Dorje, the executive councilors of LAHDC, heads of religious, political and social organisations besides civil and Army officers were also present on the occasion. Ansari is expected to meet the deputations of various organizations of Ladakh.
He will inaugurate an international conference titled “Geo-thermal and other energy resources of Ladakh:
Technologies and Business Viability” on 5th July.
Ansari is also scheduled to visit Thiksay Monastery, Hemis Monastery and Shah Hamdan Masjid at Shey during the trip.
