2 boys killed in flash floods

Jammu, July 5: Two boys drowned in Jammu and Rajouri district due to flash floods triggered by fresh rainfall in the upper reaches of Shivalik, police said on Monday.
Police said a 17-year-old youth was drowned when flash flood hit Tawi River, where he was taking bath, this morning. Pritam Kumar son of Krishan Bhagat of hilly tehsil Ramnagar (Udhampur) slipped into the water, while taking bath at Har-ke-Podi, Station House Officer police station Bagh-e-Bahu, Manjeet Singh told Greater Kashmir. He said a rescue operation was launched immediately after the incident, but body of the youth could not be found. “Despite hectic efforts, the body of the youth could not be retrieved. However, we will start the operation again in the morning”, he added.
Meanwhile, reports said a 10-year-old boy was washed away in flash flood in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district. Identified as Muhammad Azhar, the boy was washed away in flash floods on Sunday evening in Sunderbani area, police said on Monday, adding the body was later fished out by his family members and villagers.
