GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, July 5: The Congress group in the state loyal to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Monday called for constituting a high-level independent commission to inquire into the recent killing of youth in CRPF and police firing across the Valley. The leaders also demanded ex-gratia relief and employment to the next of the kin of those killed during the protests.
“Senior leaders of Pradesh Congress Committee held an emergency meeting here today, which was chaired by senior Congress leader and Works Minister, GM Saroori,” a congress spokesman said.
He said the meeting deliberated upon the recent killings which took place in Srinagar, Varmul, Sopur and Islamabad and the situation arising out of these innocent killings. “The meeting emphasized that the recent killings need to be investigated thoroughly and demanded setting up of an independent inquiry commission to dig out the real facts about these killings,” he said.
Stating that the findings of the commission should be made public within 15 days, the meeting called upon the state Government that the culprits should be given an “exemplary punishment”. The leaders also demanded employment to the family members of those killed during past two weeks in Kashmir besides release of ex-gratia relief.
The meeting was attended by former MLA Haji Rashid Dar, MLC Amin Bhat, Pradesh Congress Committee Sate Secretary Surinder Singh, former MLA Faqir Khan, former advisor to CM Manzoor Ganai and Zahid Hussain Jan, Mushtaq Ahmad and others.
