National Symposium of Legislature-Audit Interface held

New Delhi, July 5: A day long “National Symposium of Legislature-Audit Interface” was held at New Delhi which was attended by all the Speakers, Secretaries of Legislative Bodies in India and Chairman of Public Accounts Committee and Committee on Public Undertakings.
 Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Muhammad Akbar Lone accompanied by Secretary Legislative Assembly, M Ramzan also attended the event, which was held with an aim to ensure speedy disposal of audit paras and the ways and means were suggested for their speedy disposal.
 Participating in the discussion, Lone suggested that both the Committees were important tools in the Parliamentary system to make the executive more accountable and transparent.
 To make functioning of these Committees more effective, he said meaningful and result oriented amendment to this effect had been made in the rules thereby making it mandatory on the part of the departments to furnish action taken report to these committees within six months.
