Oil price hike anti-people: CPI (M)
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar July 5: State secretary CPI (M) M Y Tarigami, today termed the decision of the UPA-government on oil prices hike as “irresponsible” and “anti-people”. In a statement here today Tarigami said the decision would have a cascading effect. “The hike would have its direct impact on the food and essential commodities’ prices,” he added.
He said the government at the centre had taken the decision at a time when the food inflation was running as high as 17 per cent.
He alleged the deregulation of petrol and petroleum products was aimed to help the private oil companies and “put the poor people at the mercy of the multi national oil giants and their domestic counterparts. “
He said the hike would hit the farmers and poor sections of the society. “We urge upon the UPA government to immediately roll back the increase,” he said.
He called upon the people of the state to join the future programmes of the Left parties against such “anti-people measures” by the government.
