Shahr-e-Khaas complains of poor sanitation
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, July 5: The residents of Shahr-e-Khaas areas like Nowhatta, Gojawara, Nawa Kadal and Rainawari have accused the Srinagar Municipal Corporation of failing to keep the old City areas clean.
“Heaps of garbage are mounting on the streets here but the authorities are hardly bothered to keep Shahr-e-Khaas clean,” said some locals living on the Nallahmar Road.
“Sanitation during turmoil, for the SMC only means to keep the VIP areas clean,” the said some locals at Nowhatta.
“If Gupkar, Nishat and Airport Road can be cleaned everyday during turmoil, why not old City?” argued some residents of Rainawari while pointing towards garbage piles nearby.
Given the hot summer, the locals fear outbreak of epidemic due to filthy conditions.
They appealed the authorities to look into the matter.
