12 photojournalists injured

Srinagar, July 6: At least 12 journalists associated with local, national and global news organisations were injured when police and paramilitary CRPF used force to prevent them from discharging their professional duties at Firdousabad, Batamaloo. Witnesses said the police and troopers thrashed the journalists injuring 12 of them.
Among the injured were lens men of Greater Kashmir, Mubashir Khan; Altaf Hussain of Sahafat; Bilal Bahadur of Times of India; Tauseef Mustafa of AFP; Danish Ismail of Reuters, Gulzar Ahmad of Aftab; Farooq Javed Khan of European Photopress Agency; and Imran Nisar of DNA. Kashmir Photographers Association has condemned the use of force against the journalists.
