Army to remain in Srinagar till necessary: Raju

New Delhi, July 7: The Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju on Wednesday said the Army would remain on the streets in Srinagar assisting the state administration in maintaining law and order till it was necessary.
"Army steps in only when things go out of control. It is not a situation the Army would like to be in. But whenever it is necessary and in the interest of the nation, we step in," said Raju.
"Army will stay as long as it is necessary. But we would like to make it as short as possible," he added.
