Damp squib

The emergency meeting called by the Prime Minister soon after he returned from Canada to discuss the ongoing situation in Kashmir reflected the way India looks at the Kashmir problem. Everybody in Kashmir thought that New Delhi may wake up and try to address this problem politically but to our dismay the Home Minister while talking to the press just mentioned Kashmir casually and stressed more on Naxal issue. Kashmir has its own tragedies as well. Firstly lack of a leader and secondly those who are separatists of today were mainstream politicians of yesterday. Also while in power our own people dance to the tune of New Delhi and while out of it, they speak in the tone of separatists. We have seen politicians joining the "Azad Kashmir Chalo" march and next day same politicians were seen sitting in the front rows in the Bakhshi stadium to celebrate India's Independence Day. Unless our politicians get together and shun their petty differences and keep in mind the sacrifices of the people since 1947, bloodshed will continue.
