Handing over Srinagar to Army unfortunate: Mirwaiz
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar: The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has termed the decision about handing over Srinagar to Army as “unfortunate.”
“Unfortunately the army has always been india's first and last resort in handling Kashmir. It's ever increasing presence in the state whether in the barracks or on the streets for the past 62 years has been with the intention of consolidating its control over the territory of Jammu and Kashmir on one hand and intimidating and instilling fear in the people on the other,” Mirwaiz said in a statement.
The Mirwaiz said that military measures will in no way be able to break the will and resolve of the people as has been proved beyond doubt time and again in the last six decades.
He said that military measures would in no way be able to break the will and resolve of the people as has been proved beyond doubt time and again in the last six decades.
“The baton of the struggle has now been passed on to the next generation who by sacrificing their precious lives have reinforced the universally accepted fact that it might be possible to annihilate the body by killing it but no power on earth can subjugate the yearnings of a nation for freedom into submission,” he added.
