Chenab Valley expresses solidarity with Kashmir

Banihal, Doda observe shutdown

GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, July 9: Banihal and Doda townships of Chenab Valley observed a complete shutdown on Friday against the innocent killings across Kashmir Valley.
The state government, in the meanwhile, has asked the civil and police administrations of all the Muslim majority districts of Jammu region to ensure that the protests do not spread in these areas.
Reports reaching here revealed that all the shops and other business establishments remained closed on Friday in Doda and Banihal towns as a mark of solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren. The strike also crippled normal functioning of education institutions and government offices.
Banihal Bar Association also suspended work in all the courts in protest against the arrest of Kashmir Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayoom.
The normal life also remained crippled in headquater of mountainous Doda district due to the strike. The Imamas of various Masjid, including Jamia Masjid, registered their strong protest over the situation in Kashmir valley.
The life in two other major townships of Chenab Valley, Kishtwar and Bhaderwah, remained normal but people staged peaceful protests during Friday prayers.
