DM revokes suspension of publication of 3 newspapers
Jammu, July 6: The district magistrate, Jammu M K Dwivedi Tuesday set aside the conditional order of forfeiture and suspension of publication of three newspapers ‘Early Times’, ‘Glimpses of Future’ and ‘The Shadow’ and allowed them to continue the publications.
An official statement said the publication of these newspapers was suspended for what it said was publishing news that was not based on facts and as a result mis-information was spread across the state.
“To avoid breach of communal harmony and as a preventive measure, the newspapers were closed down and further publication of these newspapers was suspended,” the statement added.
The statement added that the owner/editors of these newspapers had approached the court but no relief was granted and subsequently understanding the responsibility as responsible citizen of the society, the concerned owners/editors submitted a written declaration/ undertaking to the District Magistrate stating that in future, they will remain careful while publishing the news/articles in sensitive situations and will not do anything which can cause any kind of unrest in the society. They also submitted that they were not interested in pursing the case and the same was dismissed as withdrawn in the high court.
