Pensioners respond to CM’s appeal

Srinagar, July 6: Reacting to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s appeal, the Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Welfare Association (PWA) has said that Civil Society can come forward only when the state and the central governments will take immediate confidence building measures (CBM’s) in the state like repealing of AFSPA and Disturbed Area Act (DAA) and releasing all the political detainees.
 In a statement today, a spokesman of the Association said the government should immediately remove all the armed forces’ camps and bunkers from all civilian areas, revoke all draconian laws, release all the detainees, ensure human rights protection and allow the people to exercise freely their right of expression.
