A nuisance called English speaking beggars
I agree with the story "English speaking beggars on prowl in valley" (GK 7th June). These beggars are not new visitors to valley but they are visiting valley for many years now. I have a personal experience when one such group encountered with me in 2004 near bypass Baghi Mehtab area. The group consisted of a middle aged woman and few young girls wearing school uniforms. They claimed to be from Vishakapatnam South India and were collecting donations for Sunami victims. I told them you belong to which place and they said Vishakhapatnam. I asked them Vishakhapatnam is located in which state ? and they said Kerala. I told them it is in Andhara Pradesh. They were scared and I was sure that they are the cheaters. I took them to Nowgam police station and told the officer incharge there to lodge a complaint which he agreed upon. I even went to SP south in this regard. When I again came back to Nowgam police station I was shocked to see that they had been set free. This clearly indicates that there is a nexus between police and such people. It is requested upon the top police officials to crack down on these organised criminal gangs so that our valley is free from such people who befool ordinary Kashmiris.
