Collegeans present skits on eco-awareness

Srinagar, June 10: The Department of Environment and Water Management (DEWM) of SP College, Srinagar on Wednesday conducted a eco-programme in collaboration with Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN) as part of the World Environment Week Celebrations 2010.
 “Besides, the college students presented skits projecting the major environmental problems in the Valley,” said a college handout.
 “Some documentaries related to environmental awareness were displayed by IYCN, followed by an interactive session with the students,” it added.
 The DEWM also installed dustbins in the college campus donated by Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NILCO).
 “As a measure to make the college campus environment friendly, the students in a massive exercise cleaned the waste dumping sites in the college,” the handout added.
 The Principal S P College, Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chatt accompanied by Dean Students Welfare Prof Assia Siddiqi and Head of the Department of Environment and Water Management, Humaira Qadiri, inspected the site and appreciated the students.
