DDA team visits Sangarmaal

Srinagar, June 10: A team of senior officials and board members from Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Thursday visited the Srinagar Development Authority’s recently inaugurated Sangarmaal City Centre.
The DDA team comprising Principal Commissioner/Secretary V M Bansal and board members Dr Harshawardhan and Naseeb Singh, both Delhi legislators and Councillor Sudesh Bhasin commended the blend of modernity and conventional architecture with lot of open and recreational spaces at Sangarmaal and called for replicating similar model for construction of malls in other parts of the country.
SDA’s Executive Engineer, Showkat Ahmad Wani briefed the team on how Sangarmaal project was conceived and developed.
Earlier, during its visit to the SDA headquarters at Bemina, the DDA team had an interactive session with the senior officers of the SDA, where comprehensive exchange of ideas on urban planning took place.
The SDA Vice-Chairman, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi gave an overview of the SDA activities and the developmental challenges facing the Srinagar City.
He also briefed the DDA team on the future plans of the Authority.
SDA’s Senior Town Planner, Javed Hussain Shah made a PowerPoint presentation on the Authority’s activities.
Speaking on the occasion, DDA Principal Commissioner/Secretary V M Bansal stressed the need of planning development of cities for next 100 years taking into consideration all the infrastructural requirements for a population that could grow there in a century.
He said the concept of town planning has also changed from “urban planning to economic planning”.
The DDA team appreciated the work being done by SDA and offered full cooperation in any future initiatives.
