KHAROF seeks one-time grant for hotel industry

Srinagar, June 10: A ten member delegation of Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Federation led by its President Mushtaq Ahmad Burza met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during his recent visit to the Valley.
 The Prime Minister was apprised of the difficulties the tourism industry in general and hotel segment in particular are facing.
 “Tourist resorts at many places are squeezing as a result of avoidable new constructions,” the delegation said.
 It said to check the damage to ecology and environment due to new and unwanted constructions under the garb of infrastructure development, “it becomes imperative to improve/develop the existing infrastructure rather than inviting ecological disaster.”
 The delegation urged the Prime Minister for one time Grant-in-Aid for up-gradation of the existing hospitality infrastructure in the state.  The delegation also presented a memorandum to Prime Minister.
