Srinagar lashed by rains, temp dips
Srinagar, June 10: Moderate to heavy rains lashed Kashmir on Thursday with temperature further dipping in hilly areas while as Gulmarg also witnessed an unusually cold night in summer.
Gulmarg, which received a rainfall of 9.4 mm, recorded a lowest minimum temperature of 3.5 degrees Celsius, Met office said.
Srinagar, recorded a low of 9.9 degrees Celsius - four degrees below normal, following rains overnight. Qazigund, recorded the highest rainfall of 23.2 mm followed by Kokernag (8.2 mm), Pahalgam (6.6 mm), Srinagar (5.2 mm) and Kupwara (2.5 mm).
However, there was no respite from sweltering heat for Jammu people as the minimum temperature showed an upward trend. The city recorded a low of 25.6 degrees Celsius today against 24.6 deg C yesterday.
Bhaderwah, Banihal and Batote in Jammu received some rainfall. The lowest minimum temperature in Jammu was recorded in Bhaderwah which reported 12.2 mm of rainfall at 3 degrees Celsius this morning.
Leh which received 0.2 mm of rainfall had recorded the minimum temperature of 4.6 degrees Celsius.
Weathermen forecast more rains for the next few days. “Rains and thunderstorms are expected in a few places in Kashmir and in some isolated areas of Jammu “, Met spokesman said.
