Rajouri, June 11: The campus of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was closed on Friday after students seeking implementation of supplementary examination system protested and announced their plan to go for indefinite strike.
 Protests erupted at BGSBU’S Engineering College and the university authorities decided to close the campus.
 The students went on indefinite strike demanding implementation of supplementary examination system for those having backlog in some subjects.
 The students were demanding ‘grace marks system’ to raise the percentage at the annual examination.
 The authorities have asked all the students of the engineering college to vacate the hostels.
 Vice-chancellor Masood A Chowdhary admitted that the university had been closed. However, he said the strike of the students had nothing to do with the closure of the University.
 “We have closed the university for a period of 45 days in connection with the summer vacations,” he added.
 “Our students have been told by some one that few colleges in the country award grace marks to their students. But we cannot adopt the same system,” he said and informed that the demand of supplementary examination system for the students having backlog would be looked into.
