World Environment Week celebrations conclude

Srinagar, June 11: A valedictory function in connection with the World Environment Week Celebrations, 2010 was Friday held at SP College.
A college handout said: “Prof AR Yousuf, Dean Academic Affairs and Dean Biological Sciences, University of Kashmir was the Chief Guest, while as OP Sharma Vidyarthi (Conservator of Forests) and Manzoor Ahamd Wanganoo, Chairman NLCO, were the guest of honor and the special guest of the function respectively.”
Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, the college principal stressed for “involvement of the society at large to preserve the fragile ecology of the state”.
“OP Sharma dealt in detail various means and ways to protect the forest resources of the state. Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo impressed that all individuals have to rise to the occasion and contribute their share towards the purpose,” the handout added.
Prof AR Yousuf expressed concern over the “deteriorating condition of the various ecosystems of the valley and advocated for the judicial use of the resources”.
The certificates of appreciation were distributed among the student volunteers for their efforts in making the programme a success. Prof Assia Siddiqi, Dean Students Welfare presented vote of thanks.
