BARBARIC ACT: GEELANI
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, June 12: The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani described Tufail’s killing as a “barbaric act.”
“Jungle law is prevalent in the state. Police and paramilitary forces have unleashed a reign of terror and have been given a license to kill innocents,” Geelani said in a statement.
“Policemen have started to believe that by killing innocents they are serving their department,” he added.
Terming the act of “target fire” on Tufail allegedly by police as “oppressive act” Geelani said, “The state government has posted sleuths of Special Operation Groups and renegades at every Police station, who are habitual killers and have killed scores of innocents in past 20 years.”
Geelani accused the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, of being “equally responsible” for ongoing killings, including that of Wamiq Farooq, Zahid Farooq, Inayatullah, Zubair Ahmad and Tufail Ahmad. “Omar is the head of Unified Command which issues orders to kill Kashmiris. He is trying to derive political mileage by saying that blood of Kashmiris is not cheap,” he said.
“Had Chief Minister been sympathetic and sincere he would have tendered his resignation by now rather than watching as a mute spectator,” he added.
Castigating the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s zero-tolerance slogan Geelani said, “The Zero tolerance means Kashmiris will not be tolerated at all and will be killed in selective way.”
Reacting to his arrest Geelani said his arrest was unfair as he had to attend the funeral prayers of his age old friend Muhammad Akbar Bisati of Sopur today.
