Srinagar, June 12: In view of the eruption of widespread protests across the city against the killing of teenager, Tufail Ahmad Mattoo, the authorities have decided to impose restrictions in parts of the city, mainly old city areas, under section 144 of CrPC. The district magistrate Srinagar, Meraj Ahmad Kakroo said prohibitory orders will be in place across Srinagar on Sunday.
“There would be restrictions in the city and no protest or procession would be allowed,” Kakroo told Greater Kashmir.

On Saturday, authorities had imposed restrictions in the areas under the jurisdiction of five old city police stations viz Khanyar, Rainawari, Maharajgunj, Safa Kadal and Nowhatta. Sources said same may continue on Sunday.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Srinagar has issued instructions to the police/security forces to allow the students possessing admit cards/roll number slips issued by Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University to reach their examination centre, in case any restrictions are imposed in the city on 13 June 2010.
