PTU distance education programs approved

Srinagar, June 13: The UGC-AICTE-DEC Joint Committee has “accorded approval to Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar for all programs offered through Distance Education Mode, PTU in a statement said.
In a letter addressed to the PTU it has been mentioned that Distance Education and Online Education cannot have boundaries or State Jurisdiction and therefore “these programs should be offered as per the ACT and Statues of the University.”
It said a high power "Expert Committee" consisting members nominated by UGC, AICTE & DEC had visited the PTU campus last year. “Based on the recommendations of the expert committee of the Joint Committee, DEC has accorded approval to PTU for next three academic years,” it said.
“PTU, a state Technical University, is recognized by UGC and is a member of the Association of Universities (AIL). The University has a base of over 3 lakh students and offers postgraduate, degree and diploma programs in 10 disciplines,” it said.
The disciplines include IT, Management, Mass Communication, Biotechnology, Apparel & Fashion Design, Hospitality, and Journalism, it said.
PTU affiliates 288 regular colleges and has a network of over 1600 learning centers across India.
