Srinagar, June 14: Residents of Chattabal, Iddgah, Kadi Kadal, Kanangarpora, Rajouri Kadal, Tengpora, Batamaloo alleged that CRPF men ran amuck as they pelted stones on the residential houses, smashing glass panes and vehicles parked on roadsides.
Inhabitants of Iddgah said CRPF men picked up a youth, Faisal Ahmad of Narwara Iddgah, from the area when he was walking down a street. Locals protested his arrest and demanded his release.
During overnight raids across Srinagar, police arrested dozens of youth for staging protests. The residents held protests against the arrests, demanding their immediate release.
“First police kills innocent youth by shells and bullets, then they arrest their relatives and friends for protesting the killing. Instead of nabbing the killers, the government is arresting the protesters,” a relative of an arrested youth said.
