Women stage protest, Mehbooba visits family

Jammu, June 14: Hundreds of women staged a massive anti-police demonstration here on Monday for its alleged dereliction of duty.
 Raising anti-police slogans protestors, scores of women assembled at Nai Basti and staged a sit in. They were demanding death sentence for the accused and a high level probe to investigate the role of police.
 “The Gandhi Nagar police had arrested the main accused on the information given by local residents”, Shanti Devi, a local said adding, “However, the accused was released for some unknown reason”.
 Anjna Devi, another protestor alleged that the accused may have killed the child after being set free as he knew that the child, if recovered, would identify him.
Mehbooba visits family 
 President of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti visited the family of the deceased child to express sympathies with the bereaved family. Accompanied by some party leaders, the PDP chief arrived there this morning and spent more than an hour in victim’s house.
