12 injured in Mendhar clashes

Mendhar, June 15: Around a dozen persons were injured in two separate clashes in Mendhar area of Poonch district, police said on Tuesday.
 A clash broke out in an engagement ceremony between two families, over some issue, late last night at Harmutta village of Gursi. The family members attacked each other with sharp edged weapons injuring five persons, including a woman. The injured were identified as Rehmat bi wife of Muhammad Shafi, his son Khaleel Ahmed, Faiz Ahmed son of Muhammad Mujeed and Muhammad Riyaz son of Muhammad Rafeeq all residents of Harmutta and Showkat Hussain son of Muhammad Bashir of Khari Karmara.
 Police said the condition of one of the injured, Showkat, was critical and was shifted to GMC Jammu.
 In a separate incident, at least seven persons were injured when a clash broke out between two neighbours over a piece of land at Mankote village.
 The injured were identified as Ali Ashghar, Muhammad Azad, Shazia Kousar wife of Shafeeq Ahmed, Shahida Bi wife of Ali Ashghar, Shafi Bi wife of Muhammad Shafi, Muhammad Azad son of Muhammad Din and his wife Rubeena Kousar.
 The injured were shifted to Medhar hospital, where they were undergoing treatment.
 Police said it has registered a case against Ali Asghar, a forest guard at police station Mendhar.
