DGP sanctions scholarships for 54 children

Srinagar, June 15: The Director General of Police, (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda, on Tuesday accorded scholarships in favour of 54 schoolchildren of deceased police personnel, an official handout said.
The DGP said: “Over Rs 1.38 lakhs have been sanctioned in favour of 43 children of police personnel who have sacrificed their lives while fighting the militancy in the state and 11 children of police personnel who have died due to natural deaths.”
The scholarships have been sanctioned for the academic year 2009-10.
While sanctioning the scholarships at the Police Head Quarters in the City, Khoda said the scholarships have been sanctioned out of Central police Welfare Fund in favour of the students studying in various educational institutions in different classes across the state.
