Militant killed in Kupwara: Police

Srinagar, June 15: Police on Tuesday claimed to have killed a militant in a gunfight in the forests of Kupwara.
Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Uttam Chand, told Greater Kashmir that the militant was killed in a joint operation by Army and Special Operation Group of JK Police. He said that the gunfight broke out Monday afternoon in the area after Army and police launched searches in the forests.
“We recovered the body of the militant this morning and recovered one AK-47 and pouch from his person,” he claimed. Sources said a trooper of Territorial Army was also injured in the gunfight.
