Traffic chaos returns as life is back to normal
GK CITY REPORTER
Srinagar, June 15: As life limped back to normal after three days of siege and Hartal over the killing of teenager Tufail Ahmed Mattoo, traffic chaos Tuesday irked the travelers in the City centre of Lal Chowk and its vicinity.
Huge gridlocks of vehicles could be seen in the peak hours of morning and the afternoon in the City centre at places like Jehangir Chowk, Budshah Chowk, Lal Chowk, Regal Chowk and the TRC Crossing.
The observers said the reasons as “usual remained the mismanagement at the traffic beats” coupled with the frequent zooming past of the VIP cavalcades which have to be given preference to proceed irrespective of their turn.
At Jehangir Chowk, the public transport buses on the two sides of the road seemed to be a main hindrance in the smooth flow of vehicles while as at Budhah Chowk the jams erupted as vehicles heading towards Lal Chowk couldn’t get sufficient time to take right leading to long queue of vehicles.
This, the traffic cops said, happens because not many vehicles can be allowed take right towards Lal Chowk given the road narrowing ahead.
At Regal Chowk and TRC Crossing the movement of VIP cavalcades, as per commuters kept disturbing the scheduled turn of vehicles onto various roads.
Many travelers complained that they couldn’t reach their destinations in-time.
