'Expedite work on college buildings'

Srinagar: The Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education, Tanveer Jehan has asked the agencies involved in construction of college buildings to expedite the works and complete them within stipulated time.
 Chairing a meeting at A S College here to review the colleges functioning and assess the ongoing developmental activities, Jehan discussed issues confronting the Degree Colleges of Budgam, Beeru, Pattan, Dooru, Bijbehra, Uri, Sopur, Ganderbal, Islamabad, Tral, Kulgam, Pulwama, Utrasu, Gurez, Tangdar, Bilawar, Samba, Hiranagar and Ramban.
 The issue of affiliation of colleges established in 2005 with UGC and that of the Colleges established in 2008 with the Kashmir University was also discussed.
 Jehan asked the Principals to expedite the process of getting their colleges accredited and reaccredited by the NAAC and told them to launch websites, provide internet connectivity and go for computerization of official records.
 Earlier, the Principal AS College, Dr Tariq Ahmad Kawoos said the Government was serious to improve the Higher Education.
