Govt to set up housing colonies for weaker sections

Srinagar, June 16: The Government is contemplating to set up housing colonies for the economically weaker and middle class sections of the society in the State.
This, according to an official statement, was disclosed at a high level meeting presided over by the Deputy Chief Minister   Tara Chand, her today. Minister for Rural Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs   Ali Muhammad Sagar, was also present. Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipality, Director, Local Bodies also attended the meeting.
Tara Chand while addressing the meeting said that in view of the escalation of the cost of the real estate in the State , the Government is contemplating to work out a comprehensive policy by which  housing  colonies would be set up in different areas of the State for the middle class and economically weaker sections of the society. These colonies would be having the state of art facilities and would be set up on modern lines, he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister also disclosed that the Government would also ensure four colonies for the slum dwellers of the State in different areas.
Sagar while drawing attention of the meeting towards the sanitation said that a comprehensive policy should be made by which the sewerage and Sanitation Department would be brought under one umbrella so that it could effectively be monitored .He also asked the officers  to install street lights in different areas of the Srinagar City where such facility has not been provided till date.
Sagar also requested the Deputy Chief Minister to issue the necessary instructions to the concerned regarding the Brari Nambal Project so that the same can be completed within shortest possible time.
