JK no bilateral issue: Jamaa’t
Srinagar, June 16: Jamaa’t Islami on Wednesday said that Jammu and Kashmir was not a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan.
“Kashmir is not a border dispute which Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan, Dr Manmohan Singh and Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani can resolve over a cup of tea. Its everlasting solution cannot be found without the inclusion of Kashmiris. It has to be resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris,” the spokesman of Jamaa’t, advocate Zahid Ali said in a statement.
He said that history stood testimony to the fact that bilateral Indo-Pak pacts in past 60-years have not served any purpose. “Kashmir issue can only be resolved by providing the basic right of self determination to its people,” he added.
Referring to the recent statement of army’s Northern Command chief Lt Gen B S Jaswal about Armed Forces Special Power Act being the holy book for troops, he said, “His statement proves that army rules JK.”
