Police to file charge-sheet against army

Srinagar, June 16: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Sopur, Kounsar Ahmed Quershi on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of three persons arrested in connection with Machil fake encounter killings.
 The CJM asked the police to present the three accused, Territorial army trooper Abbas Shah, former SPO Bashir Ahmed Lone and army informer Abdul Hamid, before the court on June 22. 
 The trio had been arrested by the police on the charges of facilitating the killing of 3-youth, Shezhad Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Shafi Lone and Reyaz Ahmed Lone near Line of Control in April this year.     
 Meanwhile, sources told Greater Kashmir that army was mulling other legal options to get statements of accused trio recorded, after court turned down its plea. 
 “The option of getting their statements recorded in presence of magistrate is before us. We will use this option and will file an application for the purpose,” top army sources said.
Police to file charge-sheet against army  
 A top police official on Wednesday said that police are completing legal formalities to file a charge-sheet against army and the trio arrested in this connection.  
 “We are completing formalities and our investigation is in the final stages,” the official added.
