Forest-Tourism departments join hands

Srinagar, June 16: Forest and Tourism Departments will launch several tourism infrastructure projects in joint venture to develop Bungus Valley in Langate as a fascinating eco-tourism destination
The decision to this effect, according to an official statement, was taken during the visit of Bungus valley by the Minister for Forest and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad.
The Minister was accompanied by the Commissioner/Secretary Forest,   Shantmanu, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest,   Jagdish Kashwan, Chief Conservator of forest Moulvi Shafat Ahmad, Director Tourism,   Faooq Ahmad Shah, MLA Langate,   Abdul Rashid and other senior officers of Tourism and Forest departments.
It was decided to construct a modern Tourist Reception Centre ( TRC) and two bed room tourist huts in the Bungus valley for convenience of the tourists. He instructed the concerned agencies to formulate a comprehensive project for development of basic tourism infrastructure in the Valley keeping in view, the local architecture and eco-conservation aspects of the area. He said wooden architecture shall preferred on cement concrete constructions.
“In no way there should be compromise on fragile co-system while raising infrastructure in the Bungus valley”, Mian Altaf asserted.
He said that Bungus Valley is endowed with abundant virgin natural beauty which needs to be exploited fully to improve the living conditions of the local populace. He said as the situation in J&K State has improved considerably, we should exploit the opportunity for promoting tourism activities in a big way in the State. He said need of the hour is to explore new and virgin tourist places for attracting more tourists to visit the State. The J&K offers varied tourist attractions ranging from adventure, river rafting, snow skiing, golfing and mountaineering, which should be tapped   optimally to bring speedy socio-economic transformation in the Sate, Mian Altaf added.
The Minister called for launching massive tourism awareness and publicity campaigns in and outside the country to apprise tourists across the world about the newer tourist’s destinations and related infrastructure facilities available in the State.
