Srinagar, June 17: State Vigilance Organization Thursday arrested Assistant Commissioner Development Kupwara while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000.
According to a statement by the Vigilance Organization, ACD, Abdul Rashid Bhat of Wadwan, Budgam was arrested while accepting money from a Contractor, Ghulam Rasool Shah son of Muhammad Yousuf Shah of Drugmulla, Kupwara in presence of witnesses.
On receipt of complaint by Shah that the ADC demanded bribe for release of payment on account of government allotted work done by him on electrification of Community Information Centre Kupwara, a case FIR No 24/2010 was registered at Police Station Vigilance Organization, Kashmir and investigation was taken up.
The statement said during the course of investigation a trap was planned and phenolphthalein dusted amount of Rs 10,000 was accepted by the accused in presence of witnesses.
During the personal search of the accused the bribe money was recovered from his possession and seized. The accused was taken into the custody for further investigation, the statement said.
