Govt to set up 8 IEs in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 17: As many as one lakh unemployed educated youth of Kashmir have been provided job opportunities through 14000 Small Scale units (SSI) established across the 12 districts of Kashmir division which include Leh and Kargil districts also. This, according to an official statement, was given out at the review meeting of Industries and Commerce department Kashmir division held here today under the Chairmanship of Minister for Industries and commerce, S.S. Slathia. The Minister said that to cope up with the shortage of manpower in the newly created districts, the process of filling up the posts created for these districts would be expedited to ensure work culture in the department.
The Meeting was informed that through 30 Industrial Estates in the division nearly 10,000 employment opportunities have been provided under 1033 Industrial Units under sectors including I & C, SIDCO and SICOP, spread over 11806 kanals of land. It was further said that the Industries and Commerce Department is embarked to boost the industry sector in the Valley and is setting up 8 new Industrial Estates at various places of Sgr, Islamabad, Kulgam, Kup,Bud and Leh districts spread an area of 2650 kanals at an estimated cost of over Rs.47 crore.
