Hot mix plant owners seek approval of works plan
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, June 17: Seeking approval of works plan, the Chamber of Hot Mix Plant Owners Nawgam Bypass here has appealed to chief minister Omar Abdullah for resolution of their problem.
The Chamber at a meeting of its members held here today with Mir Muhammad Farooq in chair, discussed various issues concerning hot mix plant owners and expressed serious concern over the “non-fulfilment of promises by the government.”
The members regretted that government’s ‘indifferent attitude’ towards the people associated with macadam plants.
In a statement today, a spokesman of the Chamber alleged all the promises and assurances made by the works minister with the Chamber had unexpectedly proved a mirage. “Neither the works plan has been approved nor due payments made despite that half of year has already lapsed,” he said, adding that allotment was not made despite opening of several tenders in the office of the chief engineer, works department.
When the chief engineer is approached, he simply says that the allotment will be made soon after the approval of works plan. We are at a loss to understand as to why the government is not approving the works plan though only a brief working season has now remained. When the works plan is approved and our previous claims are cleared, we are worried about it.”
“The Chamber is hopeful that chief minister Omar Abdullah will intervene and approve the works plan for road construction and macadamization and issue orders for macadamization of roads on war footing as he did last year to let the thousands of people associated with the macadam plants to heave a sigh of relief,” said the spokesman.
